Project Description

As the architectural consultant, Hinge Studio worked closely with Prime Consultant P2S Engineers to explore microgrid renewable energy sources and a generator for backup emergency power at the Armory and Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center. The project team assessed a mix of solar, wind, hydrogen fuel cells, natural gas, and traditional diesel generator systems. The proposed system is designed to support an emergency city services hub and shelter.

Hinge Studio contributed to the feasibility study through code review, space planning, and conceptual specifications. Additionally, we led the Landmarks pre-approval process for the historically registered structure and oversaw the design of all accessible paths and components affected by the future project. The feasibility study was completed in Q4 2024, with potential construction planned for 2025.
