The Fullerton Residence is a sweet traditional house that was renovated to better fit the family’s desire for more functional connections between the main floor and basement, as well as indoors to outdoors. Taking the Fullerton couple’s unique tastes, Hinge Studio redesigned spaces for a contemporary flow while maintaining the houses’s original integrity. The previously closed off main floor plan opened up into a contemporary great room that takes advantage of views to the outdoors, and a compact powder room is tucked off into the side. The stairway between the main level and basement family room opened up to deliver light, sound and visual connection between these key living spaces. Custom casework and French double doors provide a smooth transition between the basement and the adjacent wood deck, and a horizontal wood slat encasement conceals bike and refuse storage underneath the upper deck.
