Gas Station as a Hub

Initial design concepts for the Phillips 66 gas and convenience store speak to the nostalgic roots of the midwestern dry goods store, where one might have gone to casually run into neighbors and friends. In collaboration with VBP Orange, Hinge Studio developed two main concepts of the gas station as a Hub and as a Front Porch. The use of clean geometries in warm, simple materials like wood and board-formed concrete embodies the character of a comfortable yet modern reimagination of these two unbuilt design approaches.
